Water and wastewater capacity allocation strategies are developed to inform planning and infrastructure decisions and longer-term asset management in serviced settlement areas. They also ensure that the public investment in this infrastructure is managed in a sustainable and equitable manner. The district has created a multi-disciplinary made-in-Muskoka approach to water and sewer allocation. This is intended to maximize the efficient use of water and sewer capacity across the municipality,which has 18 water and wastewater plants that service a small population scattered throughout nine settlement areas that are experiencing limited, although varied, amounts of growth.
