608: Globurbia: Suburban Place-Making Amidst Diversity

October 12, 2018

12:30pm - 1:30pm

Toronto’s suburbs are increasingly multicultural. Does this ethno-cultural diversity enact the Canadian dream of multiculturalism? What does this diversity mean for the growing communities? What challenges do ethnic communities face when creating new identities and new meanings to the existing neighbourhoods? What are the present place-making indicators pointing to future transformation? This short documentary will provide us with a glimpse of the making of ‘globurbia’ - diverse suburbs with global connections. Discussions will be followed after the film screening.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain knowledge about how the increasing diversity has changed suburban landscapes
