Public realm improvements offer a unique opportunity to use infrastructure investment to influence community resilience and readiness. Community Improvement Plans and master plans help to obtain community buy-in and support while providing council with an implementation strategy. This mobile workshop will take participants on a tour of two recent public realm improvements—Brady Green Stairs and Downtown Capreol Waterfront—in Greater Sudbury that were realized through the adoption of the Downtown Sudbury Master Plan and the Capreol 2018 Community Improvement Plan.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain knowledge of how master plans and Community Improvement Plans can help to realize public realm improvements
  • Understand how public art can be incorporated into infrastructure planning
  • Gain knowledge about completed projects
