Manager, Park and Natural Heritage Planning, Town of Richmond Hill

Michelle Dobbie is the Manager of Park and Natural Planning within the Planning and Regulatory Services Department at the Town of Richmond Hill. Her university background is in planning and landscape architecture. Since joining the Town of Richmond Hill, Michelle has been an integral part of the formulation and drafting of Richmond Hill’s new Official Plan – Building a New Kind of Urban, which emphasizes sustainability and placemaking as key components of its vision. More recently, Michelle was the Town-lead on the award-winning inter-municipal Sustainability Metrics developed with the City of Brampton and the City of Vaughan, and the Town’s first urban Secondary Plan for the Downtown area. Michelle is currently working on transforming the focus of planning the Town’s parks and urban open space system to better service the growing Yonge Street corridor, foster economic growth, and inspire design and sustainability excellence.
