Notice of Meeting

The 2023 Annual General Meeting of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) will take place on September 21 from 12:45 p.m. to 2 p.m. Members may attend in-person at the Shaw Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, or virtually through an online platform. Stay tuned for more information on attending and voting virtually.

The purpose of the AGM is to receive reports of the Treasurer, Executive Director, President, President-Elect and Chair of the Governance & Nominating Committee.

SUMMARY OF BY-LAW AMENDMENTS
 
This year, there are a number of changes to the OPPI By-law to ensure compliance with the new Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA).
 
In addition, the Governance & Nominating Committee also took the opportunity to:
 
  • Update OPPI current practices around Council and Chair terms and make-up of Executive Committee.
  • Update the Governance and Nominating Committee's objectives around Council formation.
  • Update retired member’s ability to serve on Council.
 
The Governance & Nominating Committee worked with legal counsel on the proposed changes which were approved by OPPI Council at their August Council Meeting. 
 
Be sure to take the necessary time to review these changes prior to the AGM in order to be able to vote on the motions. 

Matters, Resolutions & Motions
A request for submission of substantive motions for the AGM was sent to all members and posted on the OPPI website. No motions were received by the deadline. Motions concerning substantive issues that were not provided in writing will not be considered at the AGM.
 
Proxies by September 14
Voting members who cannot attend the meeting are asked to complete a proxy form on or before September 14 at 5 p.m. through our online form. Voting members include Full, Candidate, Non-Practicing Full, Non-Practicing Candidate, Full (out of province) and Retired members.
