2 days, 2 disciplines, 2 ways to participate – defining our professional roles and uniting to build more equitable, accessible and inspired communities.
#2GETHER2022
As urban environments rapidly intensify, space becomes increasingly scarce and valuable. Working with other city-builders, planners must strive to ensure that intensification is met with similar investment in public realm and creating community assets for long-term liveability. These community assets can connect communities, enhance mobility options, create space for recreational and cultural programming, and promote tourism and job growth. Beginning with the Rail Deck project, this mobile workshop will invite participants to learn about the initiatives to enhance urban space and how it connects with other planning projects and initiatives in the area. The tour will continue through the Fort York National Historic Site, Garrison Crossing bridge and conclude at The Bentway. Participants will also hear facilitators discuss new delivery models needed to successfully implement similar projects, with a focus on partnerships and governance, financial strategy, project delivery options, technical innovation and stakeholder engagement.
