Facing change and guiding Ontario into the next quarter century
Derek is an Intermediate Planner in the Regional Planning and Growth Management Division at the Region of Peel. He leads and supports projects related to the Region’s Official Plan update and conformity review with a focus on climate change and sustainability. With over 10 years of private and public experience, he has worked in various professional roles including the design and planning of communities, land-use planning approvals, as well as policy development and implementation.
Derek holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Planning) from the University of Waterloo and a Masters of Environment and Sustainability from the University of Western Ontario. He is a Registered Professional Planner and was a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners Climate Change Committee contributing to CIP’s Policy on Climate Change Planning released in 2018.
