Facing change and guiding Ontario into the next quarter century
John has 18 years of professional land use planning experience. He started his career at the City of Pickering before joining the City of Toronto City Planning Division in 2001. He has worked in various geographies throughout the City of Toronto including, the Downtown Section of Toronto and East York District, the Waterfront Section of Scarborough District and is currently Manager of the East Section of North York District. At the City of Toronto, he has managed and been involved with a variety of projects including: the Laird in Focus Planning Study, Yonge-Eglinton Midtown in Focus, Don Mills Crossing Planning Study, the new City Zoning By-law, the redevelopment of the Inn on the Park, the Sony Centre and the North St. Lawrence Market. Most recently, John lead the City's team in the redevelopment of the Celestica lands which is the largest private development site in the City. This new 60-acre master planned transit supportive community achieves: new public parks, a new community facility, focuses on active transportation, affordable home ownership and rental housing, significant office replacement, a variety of built form and heritage retention. John has an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Geography from York University and a Masters of Arts in Urban Planning from the University of Waterloo.
