Facing change and guiding Ontario into the next quarter century
Loretta Ryan is the Executive Director for the Association of Local Public Agencies, better known as alPHa. She works closely with board of health members, medical officers of health, and affiliate members in local public health units from across the province to advocate for a strong and effective public health system. While working in many aspects of public health, she maintains a strong interest in the relationship between public health and the built environment. Prior to this, she was the Director of Public Affairs for the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI), where she provided leadership in the development and delivery of the Institute’s public policy, stakeholder engagement, and communication efforts. Of note, she was the staff lead on the Institute’s Healthy Communities, Sustainable Communities initiative. Earlier in her career, Loretta worked at the Toronto Board of Trade and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing as a planner and as a policy advisor. Loretta is a Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, a Registered Professional Planner and a Certified Association Executive. She is active in her community and is a volunteer Girl Guide leader with the 67th Toronto Pathfinders and the 67th Toronto Rangers.
