Marina is a Community Planner at the City of Toronto Waterfront Secretariat. Previously, Marina worked at the City of Markham as a Senior Urban Design Planner. At Markham, she was engaged with community design plans, precinct plans, official plan policies, and design guidelines. Her special studies included community energy planning for net zero neighbourhoods and sustainable development standards. Prior to moving to Toronto, Marina lived in UK where she was a Planning Officer at the City of Edinburgh Council working on large-scale urban regeneration schemes for the waterfront as well as a researcher on megacity challenges for Siemens. Marina started her career in Seattle, WA with the City’s Department of Construction and Land Use implementing its innovative public design review program for almost 10 years. Marina is a Registered Professional Planner. She holds a Master of Urban Planning degree from McGill University, Environmental Manager Certificate from University of Washington and a Master of Science from Moscow State University.
