305A: Ensuring your community has the electricity to support growth

September 30, 2020

10:45AM - 11:15AM

As planners, you work with communities to understand their diverse needs and put into place the structure necessary to help businesses and residents stay healthy, safe and economically successful. Bottom-up planning includes a community’s energy needs and working to ensure that the infrastructure and electricity supply is available. Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator has a number of opportunities for planners and municipalities to consider when creating and implementing energy plans that meet the community’s needs. In this new environment of COVID-19 there are new electricity trends being seen at the municipal and system-level. Simultaneously, planners across the province are using creativity and visionary leadership to implement energy-efficiency projects that meet local needs and strengthen the resilience of the electricity grid for all of Ontario.
