#2GETHER2022
Addressing opposition early in the process is the most effective way to avoid frustration, anger, protests, and appeals. Reflective listening is the practice of demonstrating how you understand someone’s perspective by repeating their points back to them, mirroring the mood of the speaker, and carefully responding to each point one at a time. In this session, learn how WSP’s field ambassadors and the now-defunct Local Planning Appeal Support Centre have used reflective listening techniques and other innovative approaches to draw out meaningful feedback on development and infrastructure proposals, diffuse conflict, and foster greater understanding of the planning and appeals process. Through case studies and role play, Matt and Michi will demonstrate how they have effectively used reflective listening and other approaches in their practice and offer tips on how to apply their experience to your practice
