#2GETHER2022
In a high-growth region, significant challenges are faced in ensuring new schools are constructed and prepared to accomodate the needs of new and growing communities. If critical community infrastructure, like schools, is not available to residents of new communities, it creates a signifcant risk to the Province and municipalities in advancing growth in alignment with approved plans. Public expectation is that community infrastructure is keeping pace and is available in advance of growth. This is not the case. Halton Region has a close working relationship with its two major school boards, the Halton District Public School Board and the Halton Catholic District School Board. This presentation highlights how the Province and school boards plan for new schools, how municipalities are involved, and key barriers for seamless advancement of this critical community infrastructure.
