Senior Planner, Community Planning, City of Toronto

Vanessa is a Senior Planner with the City of Toronto in the Etobicoke District and the City's co-lead of the Mount Dennis Planning Framework Study. Vanessa has broad experience reviewing complex Official Plan, Re-zoning, Site Plan and Minor Variance applications as well as leading a variety of Block Master Plans, Precinct Plans and other neighbourhood planning studies. Vanessa also has experience guiding the development of large scale institutional applications, from the expansion of primary and secondary schools to the redevelopment of major Toronto universities.  She also has extensive experience providing expert planning evidence before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal and the Toronto Local Appeal Body.

Vanessa is passionate about planning at the community level and strives to engage and inform residents and stakeholders throughout the planning process. She enjoys mentoring junior planners at both the City and in the private sector.  As part of her current role in the Etobicoke District, Vanessa also manages Community Planning's review of Committee of Adjustment applications.  She is a Registered Professional Planner and a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners.
