Paul Shaker is a Principal and co-founder of Civicplan. He has over 15 years of experience in the realm of progressive placemaking. His work blends strategic thinking, planning policy, research, and public engagement into concrete plans that help citizens shape their communities. Paul’s project experience includes leading the design and management of participatory planning campaigns, district development plans, economic development initiatives, neighbourhood renewal strategies, and active transportation planning. Combining his knowledge of planning, cities and technology, Paul develops new and better engagement tools to improve the way people can participate in shaping communities. These efforts include the award-winning PlanLocal engagement process which has received regional and national recognition in terms of innovation.
Paul holds a Master’s of Urban Planning degree from McGill University in Montreal, is a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and a Registered Professional Planner in the Province of Ontario.
