Parkland Dedication has been a requirement under the Ontario Planning Act since 1970. It is currently under review through Bill 73. How we plan for parks and public open space has shifted in the last 4 decades and has become more challenging, complex, controversial, and complicated. The session will walk through parkland dedication since the 1970’s illustrating shifts in planning and responses to change as well as a range of techniques and tools available as we “rethink” how to best consider parkland dedication.
