800: Planning for Public Art in the Public Realm - What are the Necessary Tools? Case Study: Hamilton Public Art Master Plan - 2009, 2016

October 06, 2016

3:15pm - 4:15pm

How does your jurisdiction plan for public art? What policies and provisions are in place to enhance public realm experiences? What is the role of public art in building a healthy community? How do you start and build on a public art master plan? In addressing these questions presenters will draw on the experiences gained through the City of Toronto public art policies and the City of Hamilton Public Art Master Plan. This session will highlight how to plan for public art with criteria for a wide range of opportunities, offer examples of public art provisions in secondary and precinct plans and urban design guidelines, and identify various methods for art selection and public engagement.
