The Town of Caledon comprises pockets of unique rural communities that have historically developed to support surrounding farmland, in a landscape of rich natural and cultural resources. Located on the outskirts of the Greater Toronto Area, Caledon is now facing growth pressures that appear to threaten its cherished character, culture, and lifestyle. This session will explore key themes and findings arising from research, public engagement, and policy review. It will generate dialogue regarding community readiness in the context of preservation and adaptation, and will address area-specific tools that planners can utilize as a means of preserving natural and cultural assets that contribute to a sense of identity, in the face of intensification. Learning Objectives:
