201B: My Dundas – story of London’s most important public space

October 11, 2018

1:30pm - 2:00pm

This session reflects on how unique consultation and visualizations, including modelling and VR, can advance complicated projects. In 2015, the City of London initiated a key project which supports the London Plan—Dundas Place. The intent of this project is to transform four blocks of the downtown streetscape into a flexible street and public space. Through robust and unique public and stakeholder consultation, the team developed a powerful thematic approach to the overall design. This project marks a departure from traditional infrastructural renewal. Advanced data resources, 3D modelling and VR technology brought ideas to life.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the importance of listening to your constituency
  • Gain knowledge about the use of visualization in relating ideas
  • Understand that infrastructure renewal presents an unprecedented opportunity to evoke a heightened sense of cultural and civic purpose
