505: Planning for Electricity Infrastructure Resiliency

A reliable source of electricity is essential for community growth, and planning resilient electricity infrastructure is becoming crucial as the number of major weather events, such as ice storms and flooding, increase. This session will use case studies to illustrate how municipal planners, community energy planners, local distribution companies and the Independent Electricity System Operator work together to strengthen the resilience of electricity infrastructure. It will also explore ways to build resilience in your community. 
 
Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the provincial and local electricity planning processes and how they work to ensure a reliable and resilient electicity supply
  • Gain knowledge about how the IESO works with municipal planners, community energy planners and local distribution companies to plan electricity infrastructure
  • Gain knowledge about best practices in building electricity infrastructure resiliency
