Ahmed’s current position is Director, Transmission Planning at the Independent Electricity System Operator. He oversees the planning of the transmission system in northern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area. His division is presently developing integrated regional resource plans (IRRPs) for the Toronto Region and the York Region. Prior to his current role, he managed a team responsible for developing operating limits and instructions for the control room, and he managed the department responsible for assessing and registering new facilities connecting to the power system. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, with 15 years of experience in the electricity industry. He has an undergraduate degree and post-graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering, and an MBA.
