Skelton, Brumwell & Associates has been providing engineering, planning and environmental consulting services in Barrie since 1970. We have developed a reputation for providing quality work and achievement on projects for both public and private sector clients across Central Ontario.
Our knowledgeable and experienced staff of engineers, planners, ecologists, resource and engineering technologists, draftspersons and CADD operators, inspectors and clerical personnel ensure all our client’s needs are met.

Scott is the son of founding Partner and fellow engineer, G. Denton Brumwell. Since 1987, Scott has worked to create a dedicated professional team of engineers and engineering technologists who have worked to extend the company’s reputation for quality work and achievement for a wide range of private and public sector clients.
Scott became a partner in the firm in 1990, and in 2004 his was appointed to Vice President. Scott now leads the company as President. As the head of our engineering sector, Scott has helped Skelton Brumwell & Associates Inc. flourish into a widely recognizable engineering enterprise.
As President and Principal Engineer, Mr. Brumwell is responsible for managing civil engineering projects undertaken by the firm. He specializes in project administration, development servicing design, contract preparation, construction administration, master servicing planning, development cost sharing agreements, expert witness services, stormwater management, transportation impact analysis and Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).
Michael has over 30 years of practical experience as a land use and environmental planner in the public and private sector.
As a Partner with Skelton Brumwell, Michael helped expand our reputation as trusted experts in both Provincial and Municipal planning. Part of SBA’s recent growth and continued success can be attributed to Michael’s multi-disciplinary approach to projects and his commitment to providing the highest level of innovation.As a consultant, he has carried out a wide range of planning and ecological studies throughout Ontario. Michael has led policy development and research projects for the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario, First Nations communities, numerous municipal government clients as well as NGOs. He has also assisted a wide variety of private sector clients with a range of development applications including residential, commercial, industrial, institutional and recreational sector projects.Michael presents and writes about planning, ecology and conservation matters on a regular basis. He is a qualified expert in land-use planning and ecological matters with extensive experience before the Ontario Municipal Board and other tribunals and proceedings. Michael also has experience in the effective utilization of social media in developing meaningful community engagement in planning matters.
