Fotenn is an award-winning planning, urban design, and landscape architecture firm with offices in Ottawa, Kingston, and Toronto. Established in 1992, the firm is celebrating over thirty successful years founded on a commitment to a responsive and personal approach and to the honest and fair treatment of our clients and the communities in which we work. / Urban Planning - From large-scale master plans to residential infill projects, our team of urban planners offers comprehensive services in policy formulation and development approvals to a range of public and private-sector clients. Our planners collaborate with our clients to understand their specific needs, opportunities, and constraints to provide tailor-made, innovative solutions geared toward successful implementation. 


/ Urban Design - Our urban design studio creates engaging design solutions that are underpinned by our renowned expertise in land use planning and design. Ranging from large, transit-oriented developments and master plans to concepts that analyze the development potential for individual sites, our urban design projects push the boundaries of creativity while reflecting our comprehensive experience, knowledge of current trends, and innovative vision, to keep us at the forefront of the Canadian urban design scene. 


/ Landscape Architecture - Our landscape architecture teams approach is defined by a comprehensive understanding of how peoples lives shape, and are shaped by, their environments. Whether creating large scale master plans, or a small urban park, our team of landscape architects considers the sites physical surroundings and the needs of the clients and communities, as well as the financial mechanisms, long-term community effects, implementation, maintenance, and management of the project. This allows us to present design solutions that appropriately address functional and aesthetic concerns.

Matthew is a Principal of Planning and Policy with over 16 years experience in both policy and development projects throughout Ontario, Quebec and Canada’s territories. Matthew has extensive experience in obtaining planning approvals for private-sector clients for a range of mixed-use, residential, institutional and commercial projects with special focus on urban design and infill development. Matthew understands the complexities inherent in development issues and formulates innovative solutions that enhance urban environment settings.

Saide Sayah, Principal

Saide Sayah is a Principal with over 20 years of experience in development and community planning, including over a decade of management experience working with multiple sectors in government and both private and not for profit sectors. Through his experience, Saide has established himself as an industry-leader in coordinating, promoting, and implementing affordable and supportive housing projects as well as many housing and homelessness programs throughout the City of Ottawa. He regularly liaises with all levels of government, agencies, the Mayor and Council, the development community and the public to help resolve complex problems that bridge both planning and social services.

Saide is also a part time professor at Algonquin College where he teaches the Principles of Urban Planning within the Bachelor of Building Sciences Program.
