This session will explore the ways in which partnerships between public health and planners will improve the health of Ontario’s population. Participants will learn about Ontario’s first public health strategic plan (2013). The plan describes five strategic goals and eight collective areas of focus, from optimizing healthy human development and reducing preventable diseases and injuries, to promoting healthy environments, both natural and built. It was named after Daniel Burnham, the father of urban planning and committed Ontario’s public health sector to focus more on the role of the built environment on health. Let us Think Big, and Make No Little Plans.
