MW6: Don Mills: A Planned Community and Change

October 06, 2015

1:00pm-5:15pm

Additional Fee $30.00

This mobile workshop will offer a walking tour of the Don Mills community. The tour will examine a residential neighborhood, the open space and pedestrian trail system, and the redevelopment of its original commercial community core, the Shops at Don Mills.

Don Mills is a landmark of post-war community planning in Canada. Designed in the early 1950s as a new town, its design principles have influenced the planning of countless suburban communities in Ontario and beyond. Now in its sixth decade, Don Mills has responded and adapted to changes and development pressures as it shifted from being a suburb on the edge of Toronto to an inner suburb.

Participants will be given a boxed lunch and will be required to miss the keynote session "Creating an Uncommon Future"
