This session will provide a planner's overview of the past nine years of growth plan implementation and a look forward to the next 30 years. The session will rely upon Malone Given Parsons’ Planned Urban Structure Map, a geographic information system based analytical tool that is the only GGH-wide compendium of lower tier official plan designations down to the Secondary Plan level. It will include an update on land supply in the GGH under the typology of the growth plan (including the built boundary), a summary of community and employment areas consumed since 2006, and the remaining supply resulting from the recently completed municipal implementation exercises. The extensive use of infographics, Google Earth and alternative presentation techniques, will showcase some of the emerging tools planners have at their disposal to translate facts and figures into a compelling narrative.
