Making Community Improvement Plans Successful

October 08, 2015

2:05pm-2:20pm

A Community Improvement Plan is a powerful economic development, community planning and urban design tool. It may function simply as a façade improvement tool, or as a complex action-oriented strategy for public and private realm improvements.

This session will explore the potential of a CIP to function as a comprehensive revitalization strategy through a review of case studies and ways to maximize its potential in the implementation phase. Participants will learn about the factors that affect CIP success, the importance of implementation tools, such as marketing materials, and innovative strategies for communicating its benefits. It is our intent to gather input on CIP success measures, implementation tools and marketing ideas, and to specifically ask participants about their experiences in implementing their own CIPs.
