9:45am - 12:30pm

SOLD OUT

In 2002 the Sheppard Ave Subway opened. Since that time over 17,000 units of housing have been built, are under construction or approved. This mobile workshop will take participants to visit four key development areas along the Sheppard Corridor including the  Claritrell neighbourhood, South-west Bayview/Sheppard Neighbourhood, Leslie/Besarion Neighbourhoodand the Parkway Forest neighbourhood. Each of these four neighbourhoods has a different physical and planning context resulting in different approaches to neighbourhood planning and design including structure, streets, parks and open space as well as built form.

Learning Outcomes:

  •  Understand how site topography, land ownership and the layout of  existing streets and land parcels influence the layout and form of high density development.
  • Understand how transportation, community planning and urban design teams are necessary to plan and layout new high density neighbourhoods.
  • Visit and understand the redevelopment of Parkway Forrest one of the most complete example of "tower in the park" redevelopment.
