When planning not the right response.
Supported by new technologies, the global movement of goods and services, labour, investment and ideas, as well as multi-national forms of business organization, are having profound impacts on our cities. Resource industry-based cities of the east and west are booming, while older industrial cities in Central Canada are losing thousands of jobs. Income segregation between neighbourhoods is increasing, downtowns are growing, inner suburbs are languishing and older, fine-grain urban neighbourhoods are threatened by large format retail.
