PPS Changes - Engaging Aboriginal Communities – a Discussion on policy and building consensus

For the first time, the 2014 Provincial Policy Statement makes reference to Aboriginal interests and rights. This session engages planners in a discussion about how the new policy impacts the way Aboriginal communities are engaged in decisions. The session will explore what this policy could mean, how things are already working in other jurisdictions across Canada (and some local examples), and some best practices for engaging Aboriginal communities, with a focus on how this might look different for policy level and project level decisions.
