Alex is an urbanist, urban designer and architect with extensive experience in downtown revitalization, redevelopment of inner city and suburban areas, transit oriented development, urban design and project management. He is Manager of Architectural design leading important revitalization projects and policy initiatives. Previously Alex has managed Brampton’s Urban Design section with focus on Central Area planning and design, urban design policy, development design review, heritage preservation, studies and special projects.
 
Alex is a founding member and director of the Council for Canadian Urbanism (CanU), founding member and past chair of Ontario Professional Planner’s Institute Urban Design Working Group. He has written articles for Plan Canada and Ontario Planning Journal, organized numerous professional events, workshops and presentations, and is a frequent lecturer on urban design and was instructor for the OPPI Urban Design Course for Planners. Alex is a member of the Ottawa Urban Design Review Panel and has served in numerous professional juries including the National Urban Design Awards, CIP Great places. He has been elected as Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Planners in 2011 and has received the OPPI Award in 2007 for his work over the years within the planning profession.
