Director, Planning and Development, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA)

Carolyn Woodland is Director, Planning and Development for the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA). Since 2002, Carolyn has overseen the environmental planning, development review, policy and environmental assessment functions for TRCA’s jurisdiction within 15 municipalities in the Toronto region. Prior, she was President of the  awarding winning firm Hough Woodland Naylor Dance Leinster with twenty-six years of  consulting experience working nationally.  Carolyn is a planner and landscape architect,  and has maintained a broadly based practice in development feasibility, urban design, and conservation management. She was longstanding Chair of the Design, Planning and Real Asset Management Committee - National Capital Commission in Ottawa – selected from a  distinguished national base of experts to oversee planning and design assignments of national interest throughout the Capital Region. Carolyn taught at the University of Toronto
in the joint architecture/landscape architecture program for many years and has lectured across Canada on the importance of setting new community directions with an ecological view to planning and urban form. Her professional career spans over thirty-six years of private consulting practition, teaching and public service.
