Diana Birchall - Graduating from the University of Toronto, School of Architecture Diana began her career as an architect with an interest in urban design. She joined the City of Toronto Planning Division in 1988 as an urban designer and planner and has become a recognized authority in the field of municipal planning and urban design through her municipal work as well as through guest lectures at universities and public presentations on urban design issues. In 2001, Diana joined the City of Vaughan as the Director of Policy Planning and Urban Design. Over the next 12 years she directed a broad range of projects - developing, recommending and implementing policies and strategies to guide more sustainable growth in Vaughan - creating an increasingly compact, transit-related and pedestrian friendly urban form. Returning to the City of Toronto as Urban Design Manager for the East District in 2014, Diana is now leading the Townhouse and Low-rise Apartment guideline initiative.
