Dick Gordon, a retired member of OPPI, has 40 years of diverse transportation planning experience, primarily in the Greater Toronto Area. He began his career in transportation with the Region of York, but spent most of his public sector time (24 years) with Metropolitan Toronto, where he filled the role of Director, Transportation Planning over a 14 year period from 1982 to 1996. The final 14 years of his career were spent in the private sector consulting field, initially as Transportation Planning Manager with Cansult Limited, and then in a similar role with AECOM Technology. While with Metro Toronto during the 1970's, 80's and 90's, Dick coordinated transportation planning and related policy development activities of the municipality with those of the TTC. Central among these responsibilities were developing network plans for investment in new rapid transit infrastructure, and working with staff and politicians of affected municipalities, transit agencies and the Provincial Government to garner support and funding.
