Kara Van Myall

Kara Van Myall is a Registered Professional Planner and Landscape Architect with a passion for community design and creating places for people.  Kara has spent 15 years promoting the power of place making through asset based community development.  Her professional experience includes a number of community revitalization and improvement initiatives as a Landscape Architect with the City of Waterloo and more recently with the Planning and Economic Development Department of the County of Bruce.

 

By combining her technical skills and passion for community, Kara has spear-headed the development of the Spruce the Bruce program at the County. Spruce the Bruce brings together the department’s planning, economic development and tourism roles in a comprehensive regional downtown revitalization program.  The program is now into its 5th year and is advancing targeted business recruitment and business supports in order to challenge downtown communities to turn themselves into economically viable destinations.  

 

Kara is a proclaimed downtown enthusiast who is often seen dragging friends and family around various communities, taking pictures for case studies of their top assets and approaches.  Her energy and ideas are contagious and are resulting in positive and tangible results in Bruce County.
