Lyn Townsend

Lyn Townsend has practised municipal and planning law for 30 years. She started her own firm in the early nineties serving clients throughout Ontario and joined the team at WeirFoulds in 2013.

 

Lyn's practice focuses on planning and development matters including amendments to Official Plans, Zoning By-law, Subdivision Approvals, Site Plans and other land use planning controls. She has appeared at the Ontario Municipal Board on hundreds of occasions. Lyn has also developed an expertise in financial issues such as development charges, parkland payments and other similar obligations including the appeal process. Recently, she successfully completed a retainer mediating a development charge matter.

 

Lyn has spent her free time working in various capacities for provincial and federal political parties and has volunteered on many charitable and other Boards of Directors. Earlier this year, Lyn received the 2013 Ontario Bar Association Award of Excellence in Municipal Law and more recently was awarded the Ontario Home Builders' Association Member of the Year award at the OHBA 50th Anniversary Conference.
