PhD Rural Studies Student, University of Guelph

Paul Kraehling, MCIP RPP is currently a PhD Rural Studies Student, Sessional Instructor and Researcher within the University of Guelph’s School of Environmental Design and Rural Development.  Mr. Kraehling is interested in sustainability factors for urban and rural systems. The potential use of ‘green infrastructure’ as a collaborative force in planning/developing resilient communities is viewed as a way to move forward.
 
Previous to this experience, he was a practicing municipal planner working in policy development at various municipalities across Ontario for over 30 years. In this arena, he was tasked with preparing Official Plan policy that implemented notions of community sustainability while balancing public and private interests. He has also worked as a parks planner in Saskatchewan.

Paul is a graduate of the School of Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Studies, University of Waterloo.
