Heritage Planner, City of Toronto

Paul Maka, MA, CAHP is a heritage planner for the City of Toronto with more than ten years of experience in the field.  Paul has an undergraduate degree in history from the University of Toronto, a Masters Degree in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom, and formal post graduate training in heritage conservation planning from the University of Victoria.  
 
In his role reviewing development applications for the City of Toronto Paul has been involved in a wide variety of heritage conservation projects that include everything from large national historic sites and high rise towers, to single family homes.  Paul has significant experience critically reviewing Heritage Impact Assessments, Conservation Plans, and Heritage Interpretation and Heritage Lighting Plans.  
 
Paul has professional expertise in applying heritage policy and legislation including, but not limited to the Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada, the Ontario Heritage Act, the Provincial Policy Statement, the City of Toronto's Official Plan, and number of City of Toronto heritage conservation district plans.
