Facing change and guiding Ontario into the next quarter century
Michael Sullivan, MCIP, RPP, EP is a Registered Professional Planner and Certified Environmental Professional with over 25 years of experience in land use and environmental planning in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, Nunavut, Newfoundland & Labrador and internationally. Mike is the owner/operator of SullivanPLAN, a boutique consulting firm located in Niagara that specializes in land use and environmental planning.
Mike’s professional focus is on land development, acting both for private clients and select municipalities in southern Ontario. His practice focuses on land use and environmental projects in Niagara & Haldimand as well as the northern GTA.
His passion for climate change planning began with a volunteer assignment for CIP in 2009, where he co-authored an Adaptation Action Plan for the Hamlet of Arviat, Nunavut. This was a life-changing experience for him, and lead to him focusing on finding a practical solution to address the impacts of extreme weather events through land use planning. From 2011 – 2018, Mike was Chair of CIP’s Climate Change Committee, which was responsible for updating the CIP Policy on Climate Change (2019). He has made several presentations on this topic over the years, and looks forward to sharing his insights with fellow OPPI members.
