Finding a Place in Evolving Communities
#OPPI2020
virtual conference Sep 23, Sep 30, Oct 7 & Oct 14
Many communities across Ontario have set a goal and are working towards ending chronic homelessness. A key part of these efforts will be having enough housing and supports to house individuals and families who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness and keep them housed. So, how do you know how much of what form of housing, with or without supports, will be required? In this session, we present information on different types of housing and supports that may be suitable for different groups of people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. We also present a system planning model that relies on available information and can be used to interpret existing housing supply and project demand for various forms of housing and supports for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness based on level of need and duration or frequency of people experiencing homelessness. This approach allows communities to develop projections for future program spaces, identify gaps, and inform decision making.
