100: Why Location Matters: Towards an Integrated Approach to Service Planning

When it comes to the planning and delivery of human services, location matters.  Location is at the heart of York Region’s new evidence-based approach to integrated service planning; an approach which aims to deliver the right services, to the right people, at the right location. Through the use of interactive web maps and data visualizations, participants will learn how York is leveraging location analytics to gain business insights about residents’ needs, service capacity and the networks and business models that connect residents to services. As a take-away, resources on how to create location models using GIS will be available.
 
Learning Objectives:

  • Gain knowledge about York Region’s place-based approach to integrated service planning and how we plan to address population growth, changing demographics, legislative changes technological innovation and other drivers
  • Gain knowledge about location analytics and how it can inform strategic location decisions
  • Understand the steps required to create essential location models using common GIS software
