Effective Integration of the Minimum Distance Separation (MDS) Formulae into Local Planning Documents

This session will provide an opportunity to learn about the outcome of the Minimum Distance Separation Formulae review and the key changes to the MDS, as well as see a demonstration of the new MDS software. The presenters will also discuss how to integrate the MDS Formulae into zoning by-laws and official plans and review areas where municipalities can exercise various options to tailor its implementation to fit the needs of the local community.
 
The 2014 Provincial Policy Statement requires that new land uses, including the creation of lots and new or expanding livestock facilities, comply with the MDS Formulae. MDS is to be included in municipal planning documents such as zoning by-laws and official plans.
