Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Zoning But Were Afraid to Ask

This session will highlight Mississauga’s experience in undertaking its Comprehensive Zoning By-law Review. The first zoning by-law in the GTA to conform to the newly approved Bill 51 requirement to have a zoning by-law that conforms to the official plan, it has been implemented, tested and found to stand up well to Ontario Municipal Board and court challenges.
 
The challenge of the review was to consolidate zoning information from four different by-laws, produce a document that was user-friendly, permissive and defendable. Recognizing the importance of staying abreast of new trends and ensuring zoning adapts to new uses, the presenters will also discuss trends in zoning.
