This session will focus on the inter-jurisdictional planning process involved in siting radiocommunication towers and their impact on the public realm. Participants will learn about the federal legislation governing installations, the requisite planning process and the latest revision which sets out criteria for public consultation. The session will explore installation challenges from various perspectives—proponent, government and the public. Participants are encouraged to bring local examples to share. Presenters will outline the role and involvement in the installation process of the Canadian Radiocommunications Information and Notification Service (CRINS-SINRC).
