Shifting Office Development Patterns – The Urbanizing of Office Space

October 07, 2015

10:45am-11:45am

This session will examine how the office market is evolving, in terms of the needs and preferences of office tenants, the geographic shifts in office development patterns and the changing built form. The presentation will highlight the evolving requirements of office tenants, including the growing desire to locate in mixed-use environments which offer not only proximity to a skilled labour force but also access/proximity to high-order transit and services/amenities.

Forecast trends in the GTA office market will be explored and the key attributes required to drive the future success of the office sector in the 905. This will include a discussion of how urban centres and corridors in the 905 can capitalize on forecast market potential and how employment areas will need to evolve to remain competitive. The role of planning policy and planning tools in achieving this will also be discussed.
