A New Twist on How we do Community Planning - Climate Change and Community Energy Planning

October 06, 2015

10:45am-11:45am

What is the role of the Official Plan in addressing the question of energy and climate change?    Recent changes to the PPS and the Climate Change Discussion Paper are indicators that planners need to take notice.  Planners are accustomed to dealing with most infrastructure required to service growth (roads, transit, water and sewer), but this hasn't traditionally involved the energy choices to service the growth, including community-scale and district energy.  In addition, what are the planning implications of addressing the effects of climate change or our communities.  In this session, we will explore how Community Energy Planning can help to build more sustainable, efficient and resilient communities.
