Vaughan Metropolitan Centre - Developing Vaughan's New Downtown

The session will discuss the creation of the secondary plan for the 400-acre Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, the City of Vaughan’s new downtown. The panel will talk about the challenge of taking a large site developed for predominantly low-rise industrial and commercial land uses and creating a vibrant urban core. It will highlight the development and implementation of policies on urban design, built form and the public realm, retailing, office requirements and incentives, schools, parkland and multi-modal transportation options. It will talk about the need for flexibility and creativity in both policy and process if the vision for this area is to be achieved over the next 20 years.
